Biography
1950
Born October 7th in Los Angeles, California.
1968 - 1973
Studied at UCLA, Art Center College of Design, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle: Bachelor's Degree in Plastic & Graphic Arts; further studies in ethnographic filmmaking.
1974 - 1975
Works as assistant film editor for commercials and at NBC News; Art Director and Photographer at WTTW/PBS Chicago (Alternative TV News).
1975 - 1981
Photographs with the Leica camera while traveling extensively in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
1978 -1983
Based in New York, works as free-lance editorial photographer: Rolling Stone, Esquire, New York Magazine, etc.
1977 - 1986
Photographs in Poland one month each year.
1984 - 1986
Moves to Paris. Birth of daughter, Lucina.
1988 - 1997
Sets up studio next to Paris in Ivry-sur-Seine. Continues to collaborate with European and American publications: Du, Vogue-Paris , Libération, Das Magazin, Forbes, New York Times Magazine, Washington Post Magazine, Avenue, Art News, etc.
1985 - 1995
Photographs in Mexico on yearly visits.
1995
Publishes 2 personal books on Poland and Mexico.
1986 - 1997
Works on project Le Beau Ventre, nudes of pregnant women.
1997
Moves to Mexico City. Works on various book projects.
1999 - 2003
Photographic and video projects in Cuba: Almendra-Un Danzón Cubano; 50 años de chachachá-la Orquesta America.
2003
50 años de Chachachá premieres at the Chicago Documentary Film Festival; later screens at more festivals ands wins "Best Documentary" at the LA Shorts Fest.
2004
50 años de Chachachá continues to screen in festivals. Distribution is signed with two agents. Work begins on a second documentary.
2005-2006
Moves back to France.
Returns to photography through the digital process.
2006
Illustrates the book Italo Calvino en México.
Makes color book for Mexican children inspired by Tana Hoban: Circle or Square?
Visits République du Congo: Autoportrait Brazzaville.
Exhibits FotoTarot in ParisPhoto.
2007
Settles in the village of Tepoztlán, south of Mexico City.
Creates 3 more board books for pre-school children.
The series of 4 is published in a bi-lingual edition in Canada.
Visit to Buenos Aires.
2008
Loteria fotográfica mexicana is reprinted in a new improved version, the photos reprocessed digitally.
